Dubai Desert Classic 2011
Avid golfers have one more event lined up to note down in their diaries, the Dubai Desert Classic annual professional golf tournament to be held from February 7, 2011, to February 13, 2011. The event has a rich history of being the first European Tour event to be staged in the Middle East.
While Mark O’Meara is the oldest winner at 47 years and 54 days, Rory McIlroy at 19 years and 273 days becomes the youngest player to win the Dubai Desert Classic in 2009.
The 2009 Dubai Desert Classic was celebrated with an abundance of festivities as it was the 20th anniversary of the event. The main highlight was the conglomeration of past winners of European Tour events and those who competed in the event.
This year, the scale of the event will reach to a new high as along with Omega, Dubai Duty-Free the name synonymous with Dubai World Cup, ATP and WTA tennis tournaments has extended its ties to sponsor the event.
Dubai Desert Classic will be held at Emirates Golf Club where some of the biggest stars in the golf world will play for the prize money of $2.5 million.
